About Me

Oh hi, my name's SJ! I'm an assistant professor at the University of Georgia. I am a primary faculty member in the Engineering Education Transformations Institute and a faculty in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. My research focuses on engineering graduate student mental health using mixed methods. I earned my PhD and masters degrees in engineering education at the University of Michigan and my bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering at the Ohio State University.

More about me

I used mixed research methods to examine graduate students mental health experiences. My career vision is to be a champion of mental health, focusing on graduate students and community-based strategies to build and sustain an inclusive STEM environment. By addressing systemic challenges that negatively impact students’ wellbeing, my work will increase graduate student retention and set them up to succeed post-graduation.
